The 2023 vintage was a refreshing departure from other recent vintages in Eastern Oregon and Washington. Even with cool spring and moderate summer temperatures, harvest began earlier than 2022 due to the light crop yields. Particularly when compared to 2022, the pace of the vintage was very comfortable! Vineyards matured evenly and predictably throughout harvest.
This Barbera comes from Rockland Flats Vineyard – just a mile West of the Wishram tasting room, on one of the few areas along the Columbia bench that has enough topsoil to grow grapes!
100% destemmed berries 1.5T open fermenters. Punched down manually. Racked after MLF.10 months in neutral oak.
